Office
The request for this office was for a multi-functional seating area for couples counseling and small group meetings. As well as a “go to” spot when he wants to step away from his desk while in the office. I used four chairs instead of a couch and two chairs to help create the informal, and relaxed conversation area that he wanted. The painted black wall adds drama with a masculine touch, and is the perfect color backdrop for the camel color chairs. The plants that flank the wall add life and a beautiful splash of color.
Diva Den
Upon becoming empty nesters, I decided to transform my daughter’s old bedroom into my “Girl’s Getaway (or Diva Den to some). I wanted it to feel like a women’s clothing boutique. I purchased a clothing rack that resembles a furniture piece and put it on the main wall. I framed the large picture window with white linen curtains and dressed the window seat with lots of colorful pillows. Added an area rug in the middle of the room with two chairs and nesting style end tables used as a coffee table to define the seating area.
Family Room
The plan for this room was to use a black and white color palette and lots of textures. I love black and white because it is timeless. The first change was the updated pale gray wall color. I wanted the fireplace to pop without spending a lot of money, so I knew paint was the answer. A rug was desperately needed to ground the furniture and define the seating area of the family room. Throw pillows add color and layering the rugs added both interest and additional texture. Texture is an important element in rooms with minimal color.
Living & Dining Room
She wanted a different look in her living room, dining area and den. She wanted to use as much of her current furniture as possible, but was willing to add some impactful new pieces. She requested that blue and orange be a part of the color scheme. Her total budget for the three rooms was $1,000.00-$1,200.00. I choose to brighten the living room by painting it a light gray/blue color to compliment the dark wood floors. I found the area rug that had blue and orange along with other colors and used it as my inspiration piece to build the room around.
Bathroom
For years I have been wanting to get rid of the jacuzzi tub from the previous owner. We removed the
small shower with the low ceiling and made it a large walk-in shower when we purchased the home
years. (Seen in the before picture) Although I loved my shower, I didn’t like the rest of the bathroom.
My must haves for my dream bathroom were a soaker tub, a vanity that looked like a piece of furniture repurposed, storage, storage, storage and I wanted to feel like I was at a luxury hotel every day.
Black and white are classic and one of my staple color combo choices. It is timeless and I love that. Recessed
medicine cabinets hide all of our stuff that was on the counter before. Green is my favorite color so I
added the rug and the plant gives the room height and adds life. I incorporated some additional
accessories like the candle sticks, bathtub tray and basket to add a personal touch and a spa feel to
complete the look.
